I don’t go to the movies very often. There just are not many movies I want to see.
I don’t like violence, sci-fi, or animation of any kind. “Star Wars”: definitely not.

So that kind of limits what I will see! I loved “Chef“. Ditto “The King’s Speech“. “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel“. Well, anything with Helen Mirren! Or Judy Dench.

 And now there is “Brooklyn.”
If you haven’t seen it, I recommend you go!
It’s a sweet love story. Period.

The movie is based on the 2009 book by Colm Toibin, an Irish author. For a review of the movie, here is the New York Times from a few months ago.

I knew the author’s name as I have just finished his “Homage to Barcelona”. A friend lent me the book when we returned from our trip there in November; I suggest reading it before you go to that wonderful city.

Have you seen “Brooklyn?”
