IT’S LOCAL: LAVENDER HARVEST IN BENNETT, N.C.

This place and its story are so good that I am writing about it a second time, two years later.

We went back to
Bluebird Hill Farm
where Norma Burns invites everyone to come and help harvest her fields of lavender. Once again, it was a picture perfect day for North Carolina: not too hot or humid and a nice breeze all day.

We parked here: nice first view for the day!

I had written about our visit two years ago and put a slide show on the post. Hmmm. The slide show has disappeared with my move over to WordPress last December!
One of my followers in England, Deborah Lawrenson, had seen the post and immediately started to compare the lavender harvest here in the U.S. to that in Provence where she also lives. The result was her post
“Bluebird Hill Farm”.
Take a look and you will see just how international, and yet small, the blogging world is.

I took many, many pictures today but thought that, once again, the best way to show a selection was with a slide show. You can almost smell the lavender!

BLUEBIRD HILL FARM GOES INTERNATIONAL

A few days ago (four to be exact) I posted about the “lavender harvest” in North Carolina at Bluebird Hill Farm.

The next day I received an email from one of my blogging friends, Deborah Lawrenson. Deborah writes one of my favorite blogs, and I featured her latest book, “The Lantern” on my blog.
DO go buy the book: it is W O N D E R F U L!! We were discussing another subject, when she also asked me if it would be ok if she did a post on this lavender harvest in the U.S., and did I think Norma at Bluebird Hill Farm would be alright with it.

Fine with me, of course!

I wrote Norma who was delighted.

This morning Deborah posted, “Bluebird Hill Farm”.

The entire experience has been EXACTLY why I blog! We are all connected. We make new, totally unexpected, friends through these connections. Norma grows lavender but has never been to Provence. Perhaps she will go someday soon, and maybe, just maybe she will meet up with Deborah!

And it all started with Our State magazine featuring the story on Norma, and me being eager to investigate.
