FRIDAY FLOWERS: THE GARDEN MUSEUM

By |2019-07-11T21:09:14-04:00July 11, 2019|Garden, Travel|

This is one of my favorite places in London.

And yes, if you are a long time follower here, I did a post about the Museum in this post.

The Garden Museum

The Garden Museum is a lovely, quiet oasis on the South Bank across the Lambeth Bridge and just a short way from Westminster. Its Cafe is excellent; I highly recommend it if you go. The Museum is actually the renovated and redesigned Church of St. Mary-at-Lambeth. The building/church was due for demolition in the 70’s and was rescued by Rosemary and John Nicholson. You can read all about it HERE.

Just a month ago I went to see the exhibition of Ivon Hitchens: The Painter in the Woods

And at the same time, an exhibition of  George Rowlett: Paintings of Sarah Price’s Garden

But MOST IMPORTANTLY
The Museum needs support and help from all of us.  A planning application for high rise…as in 28 stories.. luxury apartment building has […]

FRIDAY FLOWERS: LONDON PART I

By |2018-03-15T16:27:38-04:00March 15, 2018|Friday Flowers, Garden, Travel|

Time to show you some flowers, gardens, a museum dedicated to gardening, and of course, lots of color. I am talking about my trip to London!

The Garden Museum

I had wanted to go there last summer but it was closed on Monday (oh no…) and the year before it had been closed for an extensive renovation. But finally, my time had come.
The Museum is located just next to Lambeth Palace, home of the Archbishop of Canterbury. In fact, the Museum had been the chapel for the Palace. In the 70’s it was about to be torn down (can you believe it?) for a parking lot. Thanks to many dedicated donors, the church was deconsecrated and renovation began for the Museum.

I love love love their graphics. Really, these are stunning and so perfect for a garden venue of any sort:

(Those little buttons are from the V&A and you will  be seeing them again !)

This is the current exhibit: John Brookes.
Highly recommend if you are in the area!

QUOI DE NEUF or WHAT’S NEW?

By |2021-06-02T13:10:20-04:00March 4, 2018|Travel|

So many things going on around here. And so little time.

I leave for London in less than a week. tomorrow! (I started writing this post a week ago..)
And yes, it’s COLD over there so it’s back to winter clothes. Of course, that means I need to think about foot wear. Boots. Oh no…thought I was finished with them for the season! I think low black booties will do: no need for the tall leather. Anyway, there is only so much room in a suitcase!

And then we have the on-going shoe debate. I am not comfortable in anything that laces; I need slip ons. That is why, of course, summer is SO much easier!

Anyway, here are my new shoes. After ordering two pairs of Geox (pricey..) and testing them out in the house for a few hours I decided they just were not right. They also did not come in half sizes, so I ordered down and they were a tad too tight. So off to DSW last Saturday where I found several great alternatives and ended up with these from Dr. Scholl’s.

I  tested them for hours, and days, around the house and finally wore them outside. Yes, they will do. More than do: they are perfect.
