IS IT REALLY YOU, LIBBY?

By |2020-06-10T17:05:15-04:00June 9, 2020|8 McDowell, Inspiration|

Oh, I know. It’s been many months!

So here we are. All of us at home; some of us are beginning to emerge.

How are you doing?

The weeks turned into months and now..well..maybe you are socializing just a bit? I have a collection of masks: do you? I wear one always; not always color coordinated, but that’s life! I do generally find them hot, oh so hot, and awkward and naturally I would prefer not to wear one. I’m sure you have your own source(s) for masks, but here are several I would recommend:

jillian rene mask This is my #1 choice from Jillian Rene Decor! Sophisticated, contemporary, unisex, well made.

I just discovered this one and really like it. All cotton. And, no ear loops. It comes in different sizes. I find these with the elastic bands are very comfortable.

Cotton face mask All cotton, and no ear loops! This is from Proper Cloth

My husband and I both love the gaiter mask option. They are very comfortable, easy to slide down when you don’t […]

MY WORLD OF BLOGGING

January 3, 2016

It’s a new year and, traditionally, time to consider how we want to travel through the next year, no? One of the ever-present items in my life is this blog. Not a big surprise here. I’ve been at it for years…. and years. While I have cut back the number of weekly posts (how in the world did I post five times a week??) I have pretty much settled into the routine of Monday and Friday.

Now, lest you think this is a farewell note, IT IS NOT! I will continue to blog. More than anything else it’s the friends I have made that make it all worthwhile. Yes, it’s YOU! All over the world. All kinds of people. The information I put out there is good, and I am glad you enjoy it and keep coming back for more but for me it’s the relationships that matter most.

Once in a great while I actually get phone calls (yes, real live phone calls!) from blogger friends. If you have followed me for a while you know I was in business with a friend I met through blogging, importing rugs from Provençe. While it only lasted […]

I’m here!

To all my followers who receive email updates from me: I’m sorry about the email sent to you today, Saturday! It seems that one goes out, automatically, to confirm that all is in working order.

Well, sort of working order. Do you see all those links below? I have no idea why there are so many, nor how to delete them! I did, however, install two plugins (don’t you love that word?) all on my own: StatCounter and Akismet, the anti-spam plugin. So I feel quite accomplished for the moment!

This is going to require some relearning and rethinking and a lot of time. And, as everyone is very busy with their own lives at this time of year, it makes good sense for me to slow down on posting and concentrate on the back end of the blog. Of course,  I will do this in all the free time I have!

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend… We have rain, but I know many of you have snow.

This is our front door this evening: the “tree” was my Mother’s and dates back to the 60’s.  I know she loved it and would hang it in our front hallway each year.

Traditions continue…

WHY I BLOG AND WHAT IT MEANS TO ME

By |2016-01-03T11:55:11-05:00September 21, 2011|Blogs, Inspiration|

I’ve been thinking about this for a long time.

I want to tell you what blogging has meant to me and what it has done for me.
More than anything else it is a community.  I never, ever imagined that there were so many people out there who liked the same kind of things and who were as design and color and detail oriented as I am. We really, truly speak the same language.
I work at home, alone. Many of us do.  Through blogging I have come to feel part of
a large community. I have made so many new and wonderful friends from all over the world. Occasionally I get to meet a new friend, in person, and I have yet to be disappointed. That moment of face to face meeting never fails to exceed my expectations. These are women to whom I feel a very deep connection.I know other bloggers out there who are reading this feel just the same way. We read and comment on each other’s blogs. Then we may take it a step further: we begin a dialogue through email. We become friends.

Along the way we discover we have this shared passion.

I have blogger friends who have helped me […]
