It’s that wonderful time of year: Peony Season!
Oh, the colors. Oh, the texture and shape. Oh, the scent. And oh, the
“cut-ability.”
They are easy to love, right?

White on white: it doesn’t get any better than this!

Applying filters and presets gives an antique look.

Sometimes the buds are even better than the flowers…
And a peak at my Louisiana Iris:
It’s interesting to look back over posts featuring these iris: this is year #5 and they have certainly gotten taller and bigger. But you know…I liked them when they were shorter and more unique! In any case, I adore the color, the leaves, and just how different they are from the germanica. You can read and see more HERE and HERE.
It’s almost the weekend which means lots of time in the garden! Hoping you have a wonderful one.
Your peonies and iris are lovely Libby. Could wish the annual rainfall would be spread out into the summer and not used up the first week of May.

I can’t wait for my peonies to bloom! They are one of my favourites. Right now the buds are just starting to form, but I know I’ll have more than ever from the quick count.
Your Louisiana iris is something I’ve not seen before. Lovely.

The deer ate them??? It seems these days they will eat just about anything. We are (fingers crossed) very lucky to not have a deer problem. Most of my gardens are enclosed, but even outside they haven’t yet realized the feast that awaits them! But I DO NOT put day lilies out there as that would be just too tempting!
Our day lilies are decimated every year. They sneak into our yard at the dead of night and munch away. As you know I don’t have the greenest of thumbs, but I can usually get them to grow quite nicely…except no flowers, just greenery. Ugh. The deer and I have a love hate relationship.
