Are you a boot wearer? Are you a fan? Do you wear them all the time, some of the time or occasionally ?
I am a recent convert!
I was never really into boots. I know there were times when my poor wet feet wished for a nice pair of sturdy, waterproof boots only to be forced into a pair of slightly damp but oh so good looking ballet flats. Not good, right?
Then last winter I was fitted for orthotics for my just-slightly-off-center walk. I had to find something to wear that would fit with the orthotics inside. Off to Nordstrom!
I found Munro. I can tell you, the Munro ankle boots I bought, the Lexi, are, without a doubt, the most comfortable foot wear I have ever had. No kidding. I can actually walk for hours and not feel a thing. So I am a devoted fan of the brand.
I put together a few options for you…and have included #2, the Lexi.
That was last winter.
This year, still needing the orthotics, I thought I would begin my search for high boots. I like a very classic boot: low heel, smooth leather, a buckle or two but not a lot of hardware, and just a very simple line. Suede was out since I do want them to be fairly waterproof. I have a slim calf and, actually, it was tricky to find a boot that didn’t swim on me. And then, of course, I had to be able to comfortably insert the orthotics.
Here are some selections for you! I actually went with the
Bussola, #3, and couldn’t be happier. I’ve worn it around the house for days, and then outside during our 14-day rain event.
All this is in advance preparation for my trip to Paris in November.
You might recall that I talked about a trip to Rome in late August. That never took place…but now daughter and I are going to Paris for a week. I’ve actually never been to Paris in the cool weather so this requires a new direction in wardrobe choices and packing. I’ll do a post and show you my latest ideas and finds; yes, the anticipation has been fun!
I have always loved boots and it was a good thing because in Germany they were a must for winter. The weather has just turned cool again so I’m thinking it may be time for a new pair for this winter. I think you have a few pair here that might work. Have fun in Paris, I wish I could come along. I’ve been missing Europe lots since our returned.
Hi Maggie: Yes, I’m sure they were more than necessary in Germany. And now it’s supposed to be cold here this weekend! (well, not the kind of cold you had last winter…) Let me know if you ever want a companion to go back to Europe!!
I like your ankle boot with the low heel. I’m not a fan of high boots, though.

Can’t tell you how much I love the Munro brand: do try them!
I live in boots and have quite a collection and have just a added another pair. Mostly ankle boots. I find them more practical although I do have a pair of high boots and I pair mid length.
Well… I’m just starting my collection and can see it might grow!
I was just saying I needed a pair of high boots – my daughter works in fashion and will source some for me.
I was in Paris 5 years ago in October and wore a pair of over the knee boots the entire time – leggings, a long blazer and those boots – I felt very Parisian.
Have a great trip!

Heather: Wow, that sounds like just my kind of outfit! I have 3 pairs of leggings all set to go. I’m still hesitant about just taking boots. But hey, I can always buy something else over there, right? Daughter wants/needs some work clothes, so off to BHV it is!
I am the biggest fan and have all types, flat heels and wedges…love the look! Happy Wedesday ~

Hate to admit it…but orthotics feel SO good for my feet! Of course, they fit in the boots beautifully, but I’m having trouble finding flats that will work (see Un Femme’s blog: I commented over there). Of course, in summer I now wear Mephisto sandals and they are ever so comfortable. Try them!
