What do you wear on your feet in cooler weather? Are you a fan of boots?
I’ve been having all sorts of issues with my feet so that my shoe of choice, ballet flats, is no longer an option for me. But, of course, I needed to buy something to see me through the winter. My first thought was boots: but tall or short?
The trend in boots is to ankle booties. Do you wear them? Do you like them?
Take a look at the great assortment shown here on Adrienne’s blog,
The Rich Life on a Budget
Each month, in a post titled “How I Wear My…..,” Adrienne asks readers to submit pictures and a short description on a specified fashion item or look. This month it was “booties” and I submitted!
First of all, let me say that I have trouble even saying the word, “booties.” It’s just…well…it’s just one of those words! For me, “ankle booties” is much, much better.
Secondly, I had never even considered the look until this winter. Nope. Not into it. But in December I picked up my pair of newly prescribed orthotics and set out to find that pair of shoes or boots that would be right. I very reluctantly said goodbye to the ballet flats! The doctor sent me straight to Nordstrom with a few recommendations for brands to try. Munro was Number One.
And Munro it is.

This is the Lexi boot I bought. I cannot say enough great things about it. The orthotics fit so easily and it is, without a doubt, the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn!
I am a total convert to both the Munro brand and booties!
While working on my submission to Adrienne’s blog I came across this post from
The Everygirl: How to Wear Ankle Booties
Anything you ever wanted to know about wearing this fashion accessory is here!
But now the weather is warming and ankle boots are too heavy. What now?
Are you aware of the Birkenstock trend? How about Mephisto? I’ll show you some of these later in the spring and include first hand experience. So stay tuned!
I just live in ankle boots. They are the best.

I had a pair of ankle booties when we lived in Texas and found that I could not wear them. I have a very narrow heel and bunions which are hereditary ( I had bunion surgery on both feet at one time which did not keep them from coming back) that keep me from wearing any type of bootie, shoe or flat that does not have some sort of arch support and a wide or rounded front to give my toes plenty of room to move in. I see so many darling and cute shoes but I cannot wear them. Even the open toed with a strap in-between the toes sandals and flip flops I cannot wear. I do however, wear slides that are adjustable across the top and tennis shoes with laces so I can adjust the tightness across the top of my foot. Not very stylish I know but I’m in it for the comfort now! After wearing high heels (the real pointy ones) during my younger years while working I think I did a lot of damage to my feet and I am glad that I can wear something comfortable good looking or not Hah

Kris: Ah yes, what we did to our feet in our youth! I wore gorgeous Italian shoes that were much too narrow, walked blocks and blocks in New York City in total pain, and have lived to pay for it! Actually, rubber flip flops have been my go-to shoe for many years and have taken me all over Europe. But now, I’m into orthotics, and support, and expensive but comfortable shoes! Times change, right?

Alice: Oh but, my dear, you must order some orthotics! They make walking SO comfortable and painless!!! Really, I love mine. It does rather limit the shoe selection and certainly ups the price of each pair. C’est la vie, non?
