It’s been the coldest, snowiest and iciest week of our North Carolina winter…
but we are dreaming of our new cherry tree!
Should it be the Kwanzan:
or the Yoshino?
They are similar in growth habit; one has pinker flowers, one whiter; one has an almond scent in early spring; both are fairly disease resistant; both are fairly fast growers.
We NEED this tree to shade our front door area from the hot hot hot Western sun, so the sooner we get it planted the better.
And for some more cheery “pinkness”, take a look here:
Spring is coming, believe it or not!
Get the Yoshino. The color is sassy.
We had a lovely Kwanzan cherry tree in Ohio. It matured beautifully. It grew in more of a shade tree shape which might be good for your space?

I like the Kwanzan Cherry tree. It has the most vibrant pink color. Trees are blooming around here and I’m not sure which type of trees they are but they are gorgeous. Easter flowers are also blooming which I think is weird in February but nonetheless nice this time of year as it encourages me to think about what to plant this year.
