Merrimints: a blast from the past!
Who remember these candies? Hint: you have to be “of a certain age” to know what I’m talking about.
These were probably my very favorite candy when I was young. They were sold at Maron’s Candies in and around Philadelphia. Not only did they make these wonderfully mild, pastel mints, they also made them into “sandwich mints”. Yes indeed. Just like an Oreo cookie: but these had chocolate in between two layers of fruit flavored mints.
TO DIE FOR
And, like so many good things, they disappeared from sight. The company, as it turns out, was a small family run business (Delson Candy Co.) that sold out to Sara Lee who eventually stopped producing these.
So, you can imagine how delighted I was to see
The Vermont Country Store
carrying them again. They sell the plain mints and then a chocolate “dipped” version. I ordered two boxes at Christmastime and we are just about finished the last few mints. I just checked the site and it seems they no longer offer the dipped variety but only the plain mints. Either way, they are delicious.
Elegant in the silver dish!
You can find the plain mints at

and the chocolate dipped mints at

You just never know what you will find when you start looking around!
Hi Alice: Well, you really should try ordering these…to add to those fat cells! Out of this world. Don’t know Frango Mints: do they still make them?

I’ve not heard of these mints and I am “of a certain age”. LOL I do like mint candy, especially York Peppermint Patty. Although I haven’t had one in several years if I purchased candy, I would buy one of these. :-)

Kris: I think they were pretty local to the Phila. area. But now you can order on-line!
