“Fabulous Finds”
column begins today with a mirror from Jill!
take a look at some photos she sent me:
I asked Jill a few questions about the mirror…”What was it that made her buy this particular piece? “; “What are the details that make this piece unique?”; “Did you buy it with a specific place in mind?”; “How would you describe your home style?”; and more.
Here is some of what she had to say:
I had a great job working as a visual merchandiser for a large antique
collective which allowed me the opportunity to work with some fabulous
antique furniture and accessories. Since I live in a small two
bedroom home it was imperative that whatever I purchased from the
store had to be something I couldn’t live without. Just like falling
in love at first sight, this mirror caught my eye instantly with it’s
ornate detailing, burnished finish with hints of red, and its Asian
influence. It dawned on me that it might be the finishing touch to
hang over a bombay chest I had inherited from my grandmother. My home
style is a fairly eclectic mix of contemporary and antique with
various ethnic influences: sort of a mixed bag!

Originally, this
mirror was sold by Burkay Furniture Galleries located at 314 5th
Avenue in New York City.
It has traveled from New York to my home in Santa Rosa,
California. I would love to know more about this mirror and it’s
history since it is one of my favorite possessions.

I tried to find out more about Burkay, but none of the pages would come up.

And here it is in her house:

Thanks to Jill for submitting and participating! I would love to hear from anyone out there: it’s your opportunity to share with all of us something you treasure…
