Most of you know by now that we rented an apartment on the Ile St. Louis. (Yes, I am home now!)

Want to take a look?

Here’s the building from across the river. I’m afraid my “zoom” lense doesn’t get that close, but it’s the iron gate at center:

Getting closer, from across the street:

This is the plaque on the building.

1640!!!

And that, my friends, is the difference between France and the United States….

Let’s climb up. Ninety-six steps: yep, my husband counted them each time we went up!

The first flight was all marble, the second, wood. The marble, in particular (forgot to take a picture of it) was SO worn that not only did each step have a marked indentation, but they slanted downwards. My first thought, on seeing these stairs, was: HOW are we ever going to get the suitcases down them? Well, we managed quite well actually. Easier going down than up, that’s for sure….

One of the endless parade of bateaux (boats) that were really sort of mesmerizing, day and night:

And, of course, for afternoon tea while we rested up for an evening out:

And finally, an early morning view of the Pont Marie:

Don’t worry… I’ll be showing you more next week.

Have a nice weekend, everyone!
