What a feast for the eyes!
These are some of the goodies I picked up: oh so many cards, brochures, color swatches and ideas galore
How about this little giveaway from The New Tradionalists: a set of coasters.
All their furniture is made in New York City and finished in New England.
Their big booth was front and center, so you couldn’t miss these great chairs
Stunning leather Ponyhair and linen
There was so much really beautiful furniture…I was particularly drawn to two independent artists: Michael McClatchy and Thomas Throop.
Here are some of Michael’s gorgeous things: he works with concrete and steel, and yet, as in the detail to the right, it looks like aged wood. The lines are wonderful, the textures unusual and even the scale is just right.
Thomas Throop of Black Creek Designs has always had a thing for wood! He sees the piece of furniture as “framing the wood”. And oh the woods he uses: with names like “claro walnut, paduak, sapele, and bubinga” you just want to see more.
Another great find was artist Laurie Goddard.
Her work is… just great: take a look at the site and see if you, too, don’t want one of these paintings.
Moving along to a totally different product area: I came upon Lights Up!
One more find: Art Beyond Borders
These textiles are made in Kazakhstan and imported by Meggy Wagner, owner of Art Beyond Borders. The pictures here really do NOT show just how beautiful the details are in the scarves: they are silk with felt design and just gorgeous and so unusual! At the moment they are sold at retail in the Asia Society Gift Shop in New York City.
And last, for some FABULOUS COLOR, we go to Nine Iron Studios:
The traffic was heavy at the show, and yesterday was to the trade only. I can’t imagine what today and the weekend will be like… Design is alive and well at Pier 94.
Have a nice weekend everyone!
